What is Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance?

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance covers the liability of the policy holder (vehicle owner) for injury caused to the passengers and other road users in an at-fault motor accident. CTP insurance is needed to be able to register your vehicle. CTP insurance doesn’t cover damage to your vehicle, other vehicles or property.

CTP Insurance: MVIL is the sole provider of CTP insurance in Papua New Guinea.
Vehicle Registration: All vehicles must be insured and registered with MVIL.
Claims: All third party claims can now be lodged at any MVIL branch in PNG.
Driver’s License: Vehicle owners must insure and register their vehicles with MVIL.
